Reported Results: | The objective of this paper was to introduce the potential agricultural uses of FGDG in northern Great Plains agriculture. As demonstrated, 1.4 million Mg FGDG could be used for fertilizer, ameliorant, and amendment. One of the most immediate uses for this product could be its use as a S fertilizer source, but this outlet would only utilize about one-third of the potential FGDG produced at a 1100 MW station per year. Other potential uses include its use to improve soil physical properties (Chartres et al., 1985), infiltration (Baumhardt et al., 1992; Sivapalan, 2005), aggregate stability (Lebron et al., 2002; Muneer and Oades, 1989), mineland reclamation (Dick et al., 2006), and improvement of water quality (Norton, 2008).
